Emergency Response for Kakuma and Kalobeyei Refugees
Building Resilience Through Faith and Community
Project Information

In Kenya’s Kakuma and Kalobeyei refugee camps, families are facing an increasingly difficult situation. As of July 2025, more than 308,000 people are struggling under the weight of deepening food shortages and shifting aid policies that have left many without the support they once relied on. Parents are making impossible choices as hunger grows, children are being pulled out of school, and fear, stress, and emotional exhaustion are becoming part of daily life. Yet, even in the face of these challenges, resilience remains. This project aims to support 250 of the most vulnerable households, providing timely, dignified assistance that protects lives, restores hope, and helps families rebuild their capacity to cope and plan for the future.

Each month, families will receive multi-purpose assistance to help meet their most urgent needs with dignity and choice. This support will be strengthened through the distribution of menstrual hygiene kits, educational materials for children, and practical financial literacy training to help households manage limited resources more effectively. Beyond meeting immediate needs, the project will invest in long-term community resilience by equipping youth with essential life skills and training pastors and community leaders in Psychological First Aid, enabling them to care for those carrying heavy emotional burdens. Careful monitoring and evaluation will ensure transparency and accountability, tracking outcomes such as improved dietary diversity and school retention. Through this holistic approach, the project aims not only to alleviate today’s suffering but also to foster resilience, unity, and renewed hope within the Kakuma and Kalobeyei communities, laying a path toward a more stable and hopeful future.
