Emergency Response for Kakuma and Kalobeyei Refugees

Emergency Response for Kakuma and Kalobeyei Refugees
Hope for a better future.
Project Information

In the Kakuma and Kalobeyei refugee camps in Kenya, an acute humanitarian crisis is unfolding, severely impacting the lives of approximately 308,415 individuals as of July 2025. With drastic cuts to food assistance and a controversial categorization system from UNHCR leaving many refugees without vital resources, families face dire challenges. Widespread hunger leads to school dropout rates climbing, increased insecurity, and alarming psychological distress among the residents. This project aims to provide emergency relief to stabilize 250 high-vulnerability households by delivering dignified assistance that not only protects life but also restores basic coping capacities and connects families to longer-term recovery pathways.

To achieve these goals, the project will provide multi-purpose assistance every month to address the essential needs of the beneficiaries. Complementary support will include menstrual hygiene kits, educational supplies, and training in financial literacy. Furthermore, it will enhance community resilience by training youth in essential skills and equipping pastors and community leaders with Psychological First Aid techniques. To ensure accountability, all transactions will be meticulously tracked, with regular evaluations to measure outcomes, including dietary diversity and school retention rates. This comprehensive support framework seeks not only to alleviate immediate hardships but also to foster unity and resilience within the Kakuma and Kalobeyei communities, paving the way for a brighter future for those affected by the crisis.
